Striders Memorial Day Half Marathon
On Memorial Day I ran my first half-marathon! Here I am with Chris afterward. He took the kids to points along the race so that they could cheer for me and take pictures. It was awesome to see them along the way! When I woke up at 5:30 to get ready it was pouring rain! I was getting super nervous about running 13.1 miles in such bad weather. One the way we saw that part of the course was flooded. They had to re-route before we could start. Fortunately, just as the race was starting the rain stopped. The weather was cool and actually really pleasant.
Here I am at mile 11! At 10 miles I was starting to feel a bit tired. It felt good to see Chris and the kids at mile 11. I was feeling rejuvenated and I knew I could finish.
Cute cold cheerleaders :)
My finish time was 2 hours, 28 minutes, and 38 seconds. Not super fast... but my goal was to finish.
Mom and Dad surprised me and came up to watch me finish. They drove up along the back of the Jensen Nature Park and got to see me run through a calf deep puddle a little bit before the finish line. I loved running the half-marathon! I know I'll do it again.
